Happy Equinox, you beauties!
Here’s my new EP, 5 tracks. I hope you enjoy.
Quick reminder of the etymology of ‘anarchy’:
‘An’ = without. ‘Arch’ = ruler.
Either we exercise our freedom, or we are enslaved.
The track was commissioned by a dear friend and natural-born anarchist during a conversation on the subject, and manifested a few weeks later, in the early hours when the muses often make themselves known, leading to a familiar and confused response of infinite gratitude mixed with mild frustration at facing another all night session at the cliff face.
If you’d like to commission a tune, just send me good title.
As I’ve said elsewhere, I’d sooner call myself an ‘anarch’ than an anarchist. The ‘ism/ist’ suffix associates with systematic and ideological thinking, whereas an anarch simply means, ‘one without ruler’. Who knows, maybe it will catch on. Until then, this seems a provocative and engaging title to send into the world. Yes, it’s a tiny bit ‘on the nose’, but that’s obviously the point. Generating thought about what anarchy truly means is a worthy goal.
Those paying close attention will have noted that I missed publishing the last ‘New Moon Tune™’. While that’s inexcusable, the EP has benefited from the inclusion of a new track that would have been a NMT™ if I hadn’t been so darned busy. If you can guess which tune, you win a free extended moment of time to use as you see fit.
Here’s the tracks:
The EP will be on all the freebie sites soon enough (it’s free on bandcamp too, but the buy option is there).
In other news I’ve got involved with a lovely bunch who’ve taken on a beautiful old Methodist church hall to create a new community space and venue in Buckfastleigh, Devon. I’ve been running their organic and ethical caff Friday-Sunday each week - endeavouring to make food that is medicine, or medicine that is food. As you can imagine, this is both rewarding and time-consuming. Perhaps I’ll write more about it in the future, but for now, you can find out all you need to know about the project here. And if you’re in Devon, come daan the caff, bruv/sis. We now have a flexible or sliding-scale pricing system, so the price is always right.
My tour of the known world in support of the EP launch actually culminates at the caff on Sunday at 5pm. Here are the full dates:
